PRE-MOLE SHOW PERFORMANCE

(technically pre-dates the existence of The Residents) THE BOARDING HOUSE - (1971)

On October 18th, 1971, a rowdy crew including Snakefinger, the mysterious N. Senada, and night-club singer, Peggy Honeydew, crashed audition night at The Boarding House in San Francisco. They attacked the audience with a half-hour show of music and poetry. Some of these recordings were eventually released on the Stranger Than Supper and Daydream B-Liver collections from UWEB and on the European edition of Our Tired, Our Poor, Our Huddled Masses. The performance was also videotaped, but the quality of the recording is poor. This crew later became known as The Residents.

(technically pre-dates the existence of The Residents) HALLOWEEN '71 - (1971)

Matt Groening's The True Story of The Residents refers to this concert, performed on Halloween, 1971 in Arcata, California. It was a private performance for a wedding party.

(technically pre-dates the existence of The Residents) THE PARTY OF '72 - (1972)

On October 19th, 1972, The Residents performed for a private party in Redwood City, California. Other than that, I have no information on this show, though a bit of the music is on UWEB's Liver Music CD.

OH MUMMY OH DADDY CAN'T YOU SEE THAT IT'S TRUE WHAT THE BEATLES DID TO ME I LOVE LUCY DID TO YOU - (1976)

Oh Mummy! Oh Daddy! was a special show put on for the fifth anniversary of Rather Ripped Records on June 7th, 1976. The Residents were joined by Snakefinger and Zeibak in performances of short versions of Satisfaction and Six Things to a Cycle from Fingerprince. For this show The Residents wrapped themselves up in bandages like mummies and Snakefinger dressed as a giant artichoke. These costumes proved to be a problem, though, as the foursome had rehearsed without them and when they took to the stage they found that it was rather difficult to play their instruments in such restrictive outfits.
Aside from that small oversight, the concert was planned out very thoroughly. Amazingly enough all the music was performed live, except for some prerecorded backing vocals from the Pointless Sisters who couldn’t attend the performance in person. In addition to Snakefinger’s guitar and The Residents on an assortment of marimbas and xylophones, the band included Don Jackovich on drums and Adrian Deckbar on violin. Vileness Fats's Arf & Omega put in an appearance performing Kick a Cat.
