The Beatles Play The Residents and The Residents Play The Beatles(1977)
OverviewTracks

This is the common title of a single which has two tracks: Beyond the Valley of a Day in the Life and Flying. The first track - aka "The Beatles Play The Residents" - is a tape collage of excerpts from songs by The Beatles.

The track ends with Paul McCartney repeating the phrase "please, everybody, if we haven't done what we could have done, we tried" over and over. This is an excerpt from the third fan club Christmas record the Beatles released.

The flip side of the single, "The Residents Play The Beatles", is a cover of Flying, which was chosen for the treatment because it was the only song the band could find which credits all four Beatles as composers.

500 copies of the single were printed with hand screened three-color jackets.
